Bluebird nesting box program from The Peninsula Nature Committee

The Peninsula has set up a nest box program in and around the Peninsula neighborhoods and golf course to support nest cavity birds. As an Audobon Certified community, the Peninsula has distinguished itself as a leading steward in wildlife and habitat management. Dead trees are maintained throughout the community with 22 nesting boxes and 3 purple Martin houses currently in place to bolster the numbers of nest cavity birds.

Beyond the beauty of seeing and hearing Eastern Bluebirds, Tufted Titmice, Carolina and House Wrens, and the Black Capped Chickadees, expanded nesting will help us reduce our insect population. Last year alone 24 Bluebirds, 11 Chickadees and 9 Wrens successfully hatched from the boxes. In addition to the above there was even a flying squirrel that set up shop in one of the boxes! At the end of the season, all the results will be submitted to the Cornell Ornithological database.

Let's hope for a prolific and successful nesting season this year!

Community Clean Up Day

Mark your calendars! On Friday, April 22nd, 2016 which is Earth Day our Nature Committee would like homeowners to volunteer to walk the trails and golf course to pick up trash in the community. The Peninsula Community Association will be supplying the trash bags. More details to come via email from Legum & Norman.

Look who we ran into celebrating St. Patty's Day at Irish Eyes in Lewes!

Resident Stories Submissions

WOW!!! What an amazing response we had to our request for Homeowner stories, we received a total of 52 submissions. I want to thank each and every one of you, who took the time to participate. Your stories and photos truly captured what it means to be a part of The Peninsula. We are currently in the process of reviewing each and every story together and narrowing down the ones to be used in the publication. We will try to use as many stories and photos as possible.

All homeowners that participated will be notified when your $250.00 Terrace Grille Credit/Gift Certificate is ready. Reminder that we will be choosing a winner from the collected submissions, who will receive three months club dues paid by the developer.

Once again, thank you all for your ongoing support of our wonderful community!

We cannot seek achievement for ourselves and forget about progress and prosperity for our community...Our ambitions must be broad enough to include the aspirations and needs of others, for their sake and for our own.

Happy Easter!
