"Tab Talk"

Developers Blog- By: Tabitha Golt (Project Manager)

Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Patricia Ann Metoyer and Thomas Harry Monroe. As many know, we have lost two members of our community in recent weeks.  As sad as the losses have made us, it truly has shown us what a wonderful, close knit community we have become.  All of us here at the Peninsula, both the staff and homeowners alike, have come to love and cherish each other and are an integral part of each another's lives.  Despite the challenges we sometimes face while operating a complex community like The Peninsula, these last few weeks have been a reminder of just how important our relationships with one another are.  Let's not lose sight of that, no matter what.  In the future, at the family's discretion, the Management Team will send out a community email with details for funeral arrangements, celebrations of life, and other information.  This will take place in addition to the lowering of our American Flag to half-mast during the family's time of bereavement.

Sales News from Ryan Pradon-Director of Sales

Wow! Have you heard the news? The Peninsula Golf & Country Club is the recipient of two Delaware Homebuilders' Association awards. Huge congratulations to everyone involved in making us Sussex County 2015 Community of the Year and Community with the Best Amenity Value in Delaware! Spread the great news!

It has been an extreme privilege for each and every one of us who are involved with promoting, and welcoming new home owners to The Peninsula. We know The Peninsula is so special for so many reasons and we are excited to share this with your family and friends. Our Team feels it is truly an honor to work for our homeowners. There are so many great things happening at The Peninsula and the summer has only just begun. With so many activities and fun events planned for the next few months that amazing memories are guaranteed.

Thank you to the Schell/Echelon Sales Team for starting off the month with a bunch of sales... We are excited to see the many new smiling faces they welcomed to our community. One enormous reason for their success is our homeowners.  Our success has been greatly impacted by our homeowners referring their family and friends to join them to play where they live. What's better then surrounding yourself with your family and friends in the most beautiful place in Delaware?

Please continue sharing this opportunity with the ones you care about. We are happy to extend the referral program to our homeowners. All homeowners who refer a new buyer to The Peninsula will receive a $3,000 credit towards their club dues, once the new buyer settles!  Additionally, the buyer will also receive a $3,000 credit towards their club dues after they settle! (New buyers do not include current homeowners, resales of existing homes or prospects that have already priced homes in the community) Please contact our office for current incentives.

We have also started showcasing some of our homeowner's personal stories about what they love about living at The Peninsula.   If you are interested in telling us what your best Peninsula story or memory is, we would love to record your story telling everyone about it. The video will be done at your favorite location in the community and would last for only about 30 seconds.  This will be a really fun and exciting way to share your story.  Please reach out to us at The Discovery Center 302-947-4717 to schedule a time to share your experience.

The new pond fountain on hole 13 is now in place and operating.  Due to the size of the spray the fountain had to be installed with a wind gauge that will reduce the size of the spray based on wind speeds. The fountain is lit at night and runs 7:00 am to 1:00 am.  Several members have given me positive compliments on the new fountain and I hope you get a chance to see it soon.

Lewes's 4th of July Celebration

July 4, 2016

9:00 am to 6:00 pm

The City of Lewes continues its long tradition of hosting old-fashioned games for children on Second Street beginning at 9 am.  For the safety of the participants, Second Street will be closed while the games are in progress and will re-open at the conclusion of the games.

Following the games, the Lewes Independence Day Boat Parade will wind its way down the Lewes - Rehoboth canal from the Roosevelt Inlet to Fisherman's Wharf as part of the City of Lewes' 4th of July holiday festivities.   Dr. Nancy Targett has been named the parade's Honorary Grand Marshal to honor her service to the Lewes community for 33 years. Prior to serving as the Acting President at the University of Delaware, Dr. Targett served as the Dean of the University's College of Earth, Ocean, and Environment, located at the Lewes campus. She just completed her term as President and although she has accepted the position of provost and vice president of academic affairs at the University of New Hampshire, effective September 1, 2016, she and her husband Tim plan to keep their Lewes home. She has also served on the Greater Lewes Foundation board of directors since 2001.

The parade entrants will leave from Roosevelt Inlet across from the Coast Guard Station at 1:30 pm and reach the judges' reviewing stand at Fisherman's Wharf at approximately 2:00 pm. Mayor Ted Becker will announce the parade with amplification in the area of Fisherman's Wharf and the City Dock. The parade judges are members of City Council, board directors from the Lightship Overfalls Foundation and the Lewes Chamber of Commerce. This is the 13th year that the Lewes Chamber of Commerce and the Overfalls Foundation have jointly sponsored the Independence Day Boat Parade.

All pre-registered boat entrants will be eligible for prizes that include a unique hand-carved figurine by local carver Bert Long, a member of the organizing committee.  The figurine will be awarded to the most creatively decorated boat.  First, Second and Third Place Ribbons will also be awarded. All boat entrants will receive merchandise prizes from the Overfalls Foundation. Boats will be judged on the best use of patriotic decorations.

At the conclusion of the parade, all boat entrants are invited to attend the Awards Ceremony on the deck of the Lightship Overfalls at 3:30 pm.  To be eligible for a prize, the vessel must be registered prior to 10:00 am on July Fourth.

Registration forms will be available at the Lewes Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center in the Fisher-Martin House in Zwaanendael Park, at Pilottown Marina on Pilottown Road and the Lewes Harbour Marina Bait and Tackle at the end of Anglers Road.  For more information, call the Lewes Chamber of Commerce (302) 645-8073.  Late, unregistered entries are invited to join the parade by arriving at the Roosevelt Inlet at 1:30 pm, tuning a VHF radio to channel 65 and following instructions.

There is no charge to participate as an entrant in the boat parade or to be a spectator.  Good viewing spots line the canal on both sides and go on a first come basis.

Later in the afternoon, the Doo-Dah Parade will begin around 5 on its regular route toward town on Kings Highway, Savannah Road and then onto Second Street.  The day is jam-packed with lots of fun for the whole family!!
